Utilisation Summary Report
Evaluate operational performance and usage patterns across your fleet using distance and runtime meters.
Overview
The Utilisation Summary report provides a performance-focused snapshot of asset usage across your fleet based on odometer and runtime meter deltas. This report is designed to help fleet and operations teams monitor distance travelled and engine run hours over a defined period, offering insights into usage intensity and asset allocation efficiency.
Each row in the report represents a unique asset and shows the calculated difference between its start and end odometer or runtime values. These deltas are used to determine utilisation over the reporting period.
This report is especially useful for comparing movement and operation trends across on-road or off-road fleets, optimising asset deployment, and supporting service planning based on time or distance thresholds.
Report Structure
The generated report includes the following data columns:
| Column Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Asset Id | The unique internal identifier assigned to each asset being reported on. |
| Start Odometer (km) | The odometer reading at the beginning of the selected period. |
| End Odometer (km) | The odometer reading at the end of the selected period. |
| Total Odometer (km) | The total distance travelled during the selected period, calculated as the difference between start and end odometer values. |
| Start Run Hours | The engine runtime (in hours) at the beginning of the selected period. |
| End Run Hours | The runtime value at the end of the selected period. |
| Total Run Hours | The total hours the engine was running over the period, calculated as the difference between start and end run hours. |
At the bottom of the report, a generation timestamp is displayed, showing when the report was created and the applicable time zone (e.g., AEDT – Australian Eastern Daylight Time).
How to Generate the Report
-
Navigate to Reports → Asset Telemetry → Utilisation Summary.

-
Range (custom start and end dates)
-
-
Select one or more Assets.
-
Choose the Meter Source:
-
Preferred (default option set per asset)
-

-
Click Run Report to generate the utilisation snapshot.
-
Once generated, the report is displayed in tabular format and can be downloaded as a PDF, PDF/A, XLSX or CSV.
Applicability and Use Cases
1. Fleet Utilisation Monitoring
Track which vehicles or machines are being used the most or least within a period. This supports decisions around asset redistribution, leasing reductions, or right-sizing the fleet.
2. Preventive Maintenance Planning
Use total kilometres and engine hours to proactively schedule maintenance tasks, especially for assets with service intervals tied to usage metrics.
3. Idle Asset Detection
Assets showing minimal or zero movement over the period may indicate underutilisation, downtime, or operational gaps.
4. Run-Time Verification
Verify operational usage patterns by comparing run hours to odometer data, helping to identify excessive idling or assets operating without movement.
5. Operational Efficiency Reviews
Evaluate asset groups (on-road vs off-road) or individual assets against expected utilisation levels to improve asset lifecycle management and job allocation.
Interpreting the Data
-
High run hours with low odometer may indicate idling or stationary work.
-
Zero total distance could mean no movement, GPS issues, or asset was off-duty.
-
Discrepancies in meter data may stem from device faults, replacement hardware, or misconfigured preferred meters.
-
Unusually high deltas can suggest data duplication or backfilled device data and should be checked for integrity.
Summary
The Utilisation Summary report provides a simple but powerful overview of distance and engine hours across your fleet. It enables data-driven decisions for asset management, operational scheduling, and maintenance planning. Whether you're managing heavy vehicles, trucks, or off-road machinery, this report gives you the usage insights needed to run a more efficient and accountable fleet.
