Upload a File to an Asset

Learn how to upload and attach one or more files to an Inspector record in Perspio, then confirm the files appear in the record drawer.

Overview

This article explains how to upload one or more files to a record in the Perspio Inspector module and confirm the file has been attached successfully.

This is useful when you need to store supporting documents, photos, reports, or other files against an inspection record.


Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure:

  • You are logged in to Perspio

  • You have access to the Inspector module

  • You have permission to open and update the relevant Inspector record

  • The file(s) you want to upload are available on your device


How to Upload a File in Perspio Inspector

Step 1: Open the Inspector module

From the Perspio main navigation, click Inspector.

What this screen does

  • Opens the Inspector workspace where inspection records are listed and managed.

Screen controls

  • Inspector (menu item): Opens the Inspector module

  • You may also see search/filter tools depending on your tenant setup

Click on Inspector


Step 2: Open the relevant Inspector record

Click the Inspector record you want to update (example shown: 133…).

What this screen does

  • Opens the selected record so you can access its details and attachments.

Screen controls

  • Record row / record ID: Opens the selected Inspector record

  • The record details typically open in a drawer/panel

Click on 133…


Step 3: Open the attachments area

In the Inspector drawer, click the highlighted attachments/files control shown in the screenshot.

What this screen does

  • Opens the file/attachment area for the selected Inspector record.

Screen controls

  • Files/Attachments control (highlighted icon/tab): Opens the attachment section for the record

Click on highlight


Step 4: Click Add File

Click Add File to start the upload process.

What this screen does

  • Opens the upload dialog/panel so you can add files from your device.

Screen controls

  • Add File: Starts the file attachment workflow

Click on Add File


Step 5: Select or drag files into the upload area

In the upload window, either:

  • Click Browse files to select files from your device, or

  • Drag and drop files into the upload area

You can select one or more files.

What this screen does

  • Lets you choose the file(s) to attach before uploading.

Screen controls

  • Browse files: Opens your device file picker

  • Drag-and-drop area: Lets you drop files directly into Perspio

Usability notes

  • Confirm the correct file(s) are selected before uploading

  • If multiple files are supported, they can usually be queued together

Click on Browse files or drop files on the shown area. Select or drop one or more files.


Step 6: Click Upload File

After selecting the file(s), click Upload File.

What this screen does

  • Uploads the selected file(s) and attaches them to the current Inspector record.

Screen controls

  • Upload File: Confirms and starts the upload

  • This button may only become active after files have been selected

Click on Upload File button.


Step 7: Confirm the file appears in the drawer

After the upload completes, confirm the file is listed in the Inspector drawer.

What to check

  • The uploaded file appears in the file/attachment list

  • The file is attached to the correct Inspector record

Screen controls

  • Attachment list in drawer: Displays files already attached to the record

  • Depending on permissions, you may also see options like preview/download/remove

View your Uploaded File in the Drawer.


Troubleshooting

Upload button is not available

  • Confirm at least one file has been selected

  • Re-open the upload panel and select the file again

File does not appear after upload

  • Refresh the record drawer or reopen the Inspector record

  • Confirm you uploaded the file to the correct record

  • Check your permissions for Inspector attachments

Upload fails

  • Check your internet connection

  • Try uploading a smaller file (if file size limits apply)

  • Confirm the file type is supported in your Perspio environment

  • If the issue continues, contact your Perspio administrator or support team


Notes

  • Files uploaded in Inspector are attached to the specific record you opened

  • To upload files to another record, repeat the same process on that record
