Temperature Summary Report
Summarise temperature trends for one or many assets over extended time periods.
Overview
The Temperature Summary report provides an overview of recorded temperature data across a selected time period for one or more assets. Unlike the Temperature Detailed report, this summary aggregates the data either daily or hourly, providing minimum, maximum, average, and range values for each signal recorded by the selected asset(s).
Each row in the report represents a grouped summary entry (by hour or by day), calculated from raw telemetry readings. This report is particularly useful for identifying temperature trends, spotting anomalies, or validating cooling performance across the operational fleet. It is ideal for high-level temperature compliance checks, audit logs, and reporting obligations (e.g., food safety, cold chain transport, environmental monitoring).
Report Structure
The generated report includes the following data columns:
| Column Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Asset ID | The Perspio asset ID associated with the device collecting temperature data. |
| Asset Name | The human-readable label of the asset, including device type and serial (e.g., LAB - Teltonika FMM130). |
| Date | The date of the readings being summarised (if grouped by day), or timestamp of the hour (if grouped by hour). |
| Signal | The sensor name or tag transmitting temperature data (e.g., zone1ReturnAirTemperature). |
| Min (°C) | The lowest recorded temperature during the grouped time period. |
| Max (°C) | The highest recorded temperature during the grouped time period. |
| Avg (°C) | The average temperature calculated across all samples for that period. |
| Range (°C) | A calculated range showing the min-to-max spread during the period. |
At the bottom of the report, a generation timestamp confirms when the report was created, including the local time zone (e.g., AEST/AEDT).
How to Generate the Report
-
Navigate to Reports → Asset Telemetry → Temperature Summary.
-
Select the Scope:
-
Relative (e.g., Today, This Week)
-
Range (define specific dates)
-
-
Choose the Group By parameter:
-
By Day (default)
-
By Hour
-
-
Use the Asset Selector to choose one or more assets.
-
Click Run Report.
Once generated, the report will appear with the calculated temperature summaries. Results can be exported as a PDF, PDF/A, XLSX or CSV.
Applicability and Use Cases
The Temperature Summary report supports a wide range of temperature-sensitive operational scenarios:
- Cold Chain and Refrigerated Transport
Provides an audit-friendly summary of minimum and maximum values, helping meet food safety and regulatory requirements. - Environmental Monitoring
Summarises daily fluctuations in climate control, useful for lab environments, greenhouses, or sensor-based alerting. - Operational Performance Audits
Detects unusual temperature shifts or deviations from expected operating ranges. Ideal for validating refrigeration performance across equipment fleets. - Asset Health and Calibration Monitoring
Identifies signs of temperature drift or cooling failures over time, helping with predictive maintenance and early fault detection. - Data Aggregation for External Reporting
Simplifies reporting to third parties, such as logistics customers, auditors, or regulatory agencies—especially when hourly data is too granular.
Interpreting the Data
-
Narrow ranges indicate stable, well-regulated environments.
-
Wide ranges may suggest inconsistent cooling or frequent door openings.
-
Repeated high minimum values may indicate sustained heat exposure or sensor misplacement.
-
Gaps in data may reflect device connectivity issues or inactive sensors.
-
For highly critical applications, use the Temperature Detailed report to investigate specific timestamps.
Summary
The Temperature Summary report offers a clear, concise snapshot of temperature performance across one or more assets over time. It is an essential reporting tool for compliance, audit preparation, and ongoing operational assurance in temperature-sensitive industries.
By focusing on summarised readings rather than individual logs, this report enables quicker analysis and high-level oversight—helping teams respond to trends before they become incidents.
