Service Flags
The Service Flags menu allows fine-grained control over which processes and features are enabled or disabled for each asset in Perspio. These toggles are essential for tailoring data processing according to the asset's purpose, telemetry setup, or operational importance.
Accessing and Using Service Flags
Each row in this section includes a toggle switch (OFF/ON), allowing you to enable or disable specific services for the selected asset.
To make changes:
-
Click the Edit button at the top right of the Service Flags panel.
-
Toggle the switches ON or OFF according to your operational needs.
-
Click Save to apply changes.
⚠️ Some features may be disabled tenant-wide and cannot be enabled at the asset level unless first activated globally. These will be shown with a “Disabled tenant wide” note.
Explanation of Each Flag
Data Ingestion
Controls whether the asset receives and processes incoming telemetry data.
Turn this OFF if the device is not currently transmitting, decommissioned, or not meant to process real-time data.
Workflows
Enables the asset to participate in workflow automation.
Turning this ON allows the asset to trigger workflow rules (such as alerts, updates, or notifications) based on data or event activity.
Custom Counters
Controls whether custom counter logic is applied to this asset.
Turn this OFF if custom metrics (e.g., refrigeration door time, engine idle hours) are not relevant for the asset.
Geofencing
Enables Enter/Exit geofence event tracking for the asset.
When OFF, the asset will not generate event logs tied to geofence boundaries, reducing noise or irrelevant alerts.
Geofencing – Regions
Controls the asset's inclusion in Region-based Geofencing, useful for operational zone mapping or state-based reporting.
Geofencing – Weather
Determines whether the asset will trigger events or actions when entering weather-flagged geofences (such as high-risk weather areas). Often used for risk mitigation in severe climate conditions.
Geofencing – Tolls
Enables the asset to trigger toll zone interactions.
This supports accurate cost allocation and automated billing based on toll road usage.
Trips
Turns ON or OFF the trip reconstruction logic for the asset.
When enabled, the system generates trip segments based on ignition or movement events—essential for route analysis, idle time tracking, and utilisation reporting.
Validated
A custom flag used primarily for filtering or quality assurance.
When enabled, this flag can be used in dashboards, workflows, or reports to isolate only validated, operational assets (e.g., tagged as “ready for deployment” or “fit for service”).
Why It Matters
The Service Flags menu plays a key role in optimising asset performance and data accuracy. Disabling unused features not only improves data clarity but also reduces unnecessary processing and alert fatigue. Conversely, enabling key flags ensures the asset participates in critical analytics, compliance reporting, and automation flows.
