Region Geofence Movement Report

Track and audit asset entry and exit events across Region Geofences.

Overview

The Region Geofence Movement report provides a concise log of geofence transition events for selected assets, capturing entries and exits across defined regional geofences. Each row in the report represents a single geofence event — either an entry into or an exit from a specified region — detected via the asset’s location tracking and evaluated through the Geofence Processor.

This report is designed to offer operational transparency regarding asset movements between territories or jurisdictions (e.g., crossing between states or service zones). It is especially valuable for auditing movements, validating regional compliance (e.g., based on registration or licensing constraints), or ensuring operational presence within or across strategic locations.

Report Structure

The generated report includes the following data columns:

Column Name Description
Asset Id The unique system ID assigned to each asset in the platform. Useful for internal reference and cross-matching against fleet or device data.
Asset Name The label or identifier given to the asset by the user (e.g., vehicle model, device type, or fleet code).
Timestamp The exact date and time the geofence transition occurred. This timestamp reflects when the region was entered or exited, based on GPS data.
Event Specifies whether the event was an Enter Region or Exit Region event.
Region Name The label of the geofenced region the asset transitioned into or out of. These regions are usually state or operational area boundaries.
Source The detection system that processed the geofence event. Typically listed as GeofenceProcessor, which continuously evaluates asset position in relation to geofence boundaries.

At the bottom of the report, a generation timestamp confirms the report’s creation time, including the local timezone (e.g., AEST) for context.

How to Generate the Report

To generate the Region Geofence Movement report:

  1. Navigate to Reports → Region Geofence Movement.

  2. Set the Scope (Relative or Range).

  3. Select the Time Period (e.g., This Week, Last 7 Days, Custom Range).

  4. Choose the relevant Assets from the dropdown (or select All assets).

  5. Optionally, filter by Event Type (e.g., Enter, Exit).

  6. Click Run Report.

Once generated, the results will be displayed in a structured table and can be exported as PDF, PDF/A, XLSX or CSV for sharing or archival purposes.

Applicability and Use Cases

The Region Geofence Movement report has critical applications across logistics, compliance, and operational oversight. Common scenarios include:

1. Cross-Regional Operations Tracking

Monitor when assets travel between regions or states, useful for managing inter-state logistics or jurisdictional service boundaries.

2. Regulatory and Compliance Monitoring

Validate movements for assets that must remain within (or outside) specific regions due to regulatory or licensing constraints.

3. Time-Based Movement Auditing

Correlate asset movements with job schedules or incidents. Timestamped entries and exits help audit when a vehicle left a depot or entered a job site.

4. Geofence Violation Detection

Spot unauthorised entry or exit from restricted areas, enabling alerts or review of potential policy violations.

5. Route Pattern Analysis

Evaluate travel frequency between regions to assess workload distribution or efficiency of routing decisions.

Interpreting the Data

  • Frequent entries and exits within a short period may indicate border-hugging operations or ping-pong behaviour due to GPS drift.

  • Long durations between entry and exit can indicate prolonged operation within a region or job completion at a site.

  • Sudden entry into unexpected regions may require investigation or adjustment to operational geofences.

  • Timestamps provide verifiable logs to align with dispatch or compliance records.

Summary

The Region Geofence Movement report is an essential tool for organisations that operate across multiple jurisdictions or require visibility into territory-based operations. By logging and timestamping asset transitions in and out of defined regions, this report supports compliance, operational tracking, and strategic decision-making — all from a single snapshot.
