Safety and Pre-Installation Considerations

Before proceeding with installation:

  • Isolate all power sources and follow site safety procedures.

  • Use appropriate fuses and connectors to protect circuitry.

  • Mount in a dry, secure location that avoids mechanical stress and moisture.

Step-by-Step Physical Installation

1. Choose a Mounting Location

Select a position that:

  • Allows good sky access for GPS reception.

  • Is protected from moisture and extreme heat.

  • Is secure and concealed where possible.

Typical locations include behind dashboards or inside electrical compartments.

2. Wiring the Device

Power and Ground

  • Connect +V (DC power) to a fused ignition-controlled or constant source.

  • Connect GND to a clean chassis ground.

Ignition Input
The correct wiring of the Ignition Input is essential for trips reporting Perspio, connect the ignition wire to a verified ignition source (changes voltage with key position).

Inputs/Outputs
Depending on your telemetry needs, additional inputs (e.g., digital, analog) can be wired to asset sensors.

SIM Installation
Install a 3FF Micro SIM into the SIM slot before power-up. Confirm network connectivity and APN settings as required.

Once wiring is complete:

  • Power up the device

  • Observe the LED or status behaviour per manufacturer guidance

For diagrams of wiring harness and pin definitions, refer to the G70 Harness Definition.

Verifying Operation

Location and Telemetry Updates

Open the Asset Inspector in Perspio and confirm:

  • Recent GPS timestamps

  • Correct latitude/longitude updates

  • Movement tracking where applicable

Telemetry Signal Checks

If telemetry does not appear:

  • Check device power/ground integrity

  • Validate installation location is free of GPS blockage

  • Contact servicedesk@perspio.io if assistance is needed

Troubleshooting Common Issues

No Data Reporting

  • Test cellular reception at installation site

  • Verify power and ground consistency

Poor GPS Fix

  • Adjust mounting orientation

  • Avoid mounting fully enclosed by metal

Inputs Not Reporting (Ignition)

  • Confirm correct wiring to designated ignition circuit

  • Validate correct configuration of input mapping in Perspio
