How to Share an Asset to a Tenant You Control

Perspio allows administrators to share assets between tenants they manage or have access to. This functionality is particularly useful when the same asset must be visible or monitored in multiple operational contexts (e.g., across subsidiaries, projects, or departments).

In Perspio, asset sharing enables controlled data visibility and operational integration across multiple tenants that you manage. This guide walks you through how to share telemetry and details from one asset into another tenant under your control. This is particularly useful when you're working across branches or business units that have their own separate tenants but rely on the same devices or asset structures.

Important: Sharing an asset allows specific telemetry (data) or details (fields, counters, etc.) to be made visible and synced in the target tenant.

Navigation Overview

Before initiating the sharing process, make sure you have administrative access to both the source tenant (where the asset currently lives) and the target tenant (where you want the asset to appear). Navigate to the asset you wish to share using the Assets > Inspector menu.

Click on Inspector

You can use the Search bar at the top or filters on the left-hand panel to find the asset by name, serial, or tag. Click the asset name to open its Snapshot view.

Click on Odilon

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Go to Configuration Menu

From the Asset Snapshot view, use the left-hand navigation to scroll down and select the Configuration module.

Click on Configuration

  • Here you’ll find multiple tabs such as:

    • Asset Display

    • Calibration

    • Counters

    • Service Flags

    • Groups

    • Working Hours

    • Sharing

    • Devices

Click the Sharing tab to begin the asset sharing process.

Click on Sharing

2. Telemetry vs Details Sharing

There are two types of sharing:

  • Telemetry Sharing: Sends live tracking and sensor data from the asset to the target tenant.

  • Details Sharing: Sends configuration, counters, and group metadata to the target tenant.

You can enable one or both depending on what information needs to be made available.

3. Add Target Tenant and Asset ID

To share telemetry or details:

  1. Click the Edit button on the top right of the relevant section.

  2. In the Target Tenant ID field, enter the ID of the tenant you want to share with.

    • This is typically in the format: XX-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

  3. Enter the Target Asset ID.

    • This will create or match the asset within the target tenant.

  4. For Details Sharing, choose the Profile from the dropdown (e.g. "Demo Sharing").

    • Profiles control what parts of the asset's metadata are shared.

4. Save the Sharing Configuration

Once all required fields are filled out:

  • Click Save (top-right of the sharing section).

  • If needed, use Discard to remove any pending changes.

  • After saving, you will see a Success message in the top-right corner:
    Success! Data saved successfully.

Click on Success!…

Common Use Cases

  • National Fleets: Share data from devices in NSW, VIC, or QLD tenants with a central operations tenant.

  • Cross-Country Operations: Share asset visibility between Australia and United States tenants for performance tracking or cold chain compliance.

  • Service Providers: Allow customers to view telemetry without exposing asset configuration details.
