Geofences Snapshot Report

Monitor Asset presence and duration within geofenced areas for operational awareness and location-based analytics.

Overview

The Geofences Snapshot report provides a structured summary of assets currently located within active geofences in Perspio. The report lists each asset by geofence, along with the time spent within the geofenced area and the timestamp of the last recorded message from the asset.

This report is designed to give users visibility over asset location and potential inactivity, enabling businesses to identify which assets remain at specific job sites, depots, or customer premises — and for how long. It is especially useful for detecting long-term idle assets, validating site activity, or identifying assets that may need to be archived.

Assets with a Last Seen time highlighted in red have not reported data recently and may be offline, decommissioned, or misconfigured.

Report Structure

The generated report includes the following data columns:

Column Name Description
Geofence Name The name of the geofence where the asset is currently located.
Asset ID Unique system-generated identifier for the asset.
Asset Name The descriptive label given to the asset in the platform.
Time in Geofence Total time the asset has spent inside the geofence. Useful to spot prolonged inactivity.
Last Seen The timestamp of the asset’s most recent communication. Helps detect data gaps or disconnected assets.

A timestamp is displayed at the bottom of the report indicating when the report was generated, including the local timezone.

How to Generate the Report

  1. Navigate to Reports → Asset Telemetry → Geofences Snapshot

  2. Use the Assets and Geofences filters to select your desired scope.

  3. Click Run Report

  4. Review the results displayed in the Snapshot tab.

  5. Optionally, use the Downloads tab to export the report as a PDF, PDF/A, XLSX and CSV.

Applicability and Use Cases

The Geofences Snapshot report can be used across various asset and operations management scenarios. Common examples include:

  1. Asset Location Verification
Validate that assets are currently present in the correct depot, yard, or customer location.

  2. Operational Oversight
Quickly identify which assets are idle or unmoved for long periods within a geofence. Supports productivity tracking and field team accountability.

  3. Archiving Identification
Detect assets with red “Last Seen” fields or excessive time in geofence as potential candidates for decommissioning or archiving.

  4. Compliance and Contract Fulfilment
Confirm asset presence at customer locations to validate contractual obligations or service delivery.

  5. Device Connectivity Checks
Red “Last Seen” values may also highlight issues with device communication, such as disconnection, battery issues, or power loss.

Interpreting the Data

  • Assets with extended Time in Geofence and old Last Seen timestamps may be offline, abandoned, or archived incorrectly.

  • A large number of assets in one geofence may indicate underutilisation or overcapacity.

  • Discrepancies in expected location versus reported geofence may point to operational errors or misconfigured zones.

Summary

The Geofences Snapshot report is a simple yet powerful tool for understanding current asset positioning and identifying underperforming or disconnected units. It supports field verification, downtime detection, and long-term archiving by surfacing essential location and activity data in a clear, timestamped format. Use this report alongside Device Health and Activity reports for complete operational oversight.
