Geofence Movement Report

Understand and track asset movements across designated geofences for compliance, planning, and operational visibility.

Overview

The Geofence Movement report provides a full breakdown of asset entries and exits across defined geofenced areas. It enables users to monitor when specific assets cross virtual boundaries—such as customer sites, depots, or restricted zones—capturing time-stamped data on inbound and outbound movements.

Each row in the report represents an Entry or Exit event recorded by the device, based on GPS coordinates crossing a geofenced area. This report is especially useful for job validation, site attendance tracking, route planning, and operational auditing.

It helps businesses assess if assets arrived at their destinations, how frequently certain sites are visited, or how long vehicles remained within a geofence.

Report Structure

The generated report includes the following data columns:

Column Name Description
Asset ID The unique identifier of the asset that triggered the geofence event.
Asset Name The friendly or operational name of the asset as defined in the system.
Timestamp The exact date and time the geofence entry or exit was recorded.
Geofence Name The name of the geofence zone the asset entered or exited.
Entry / Exit Indicates whether the asset was entering or exiting the geofence area.

At the bottom of the report, a generation timestamp confirms when the report was produced, including the local time zone for context. The total number of assets involved is also summarised at the top of the report output.

How to Generate the Report

  1. Navigate to Reports → Geofence Movement.

  2. Under the Snapshot tab, select:

    • Scope: Choose between Relative (e.g., this month) or a fixed Range.

    • Geofences: Filter by one or more geofenced zones or select All geofences.

    • Assets: Filter by one or more assets or select All assets.

  3. Click Run Report.

  4. Once generated, the result will appear in a tabular preview and can be exported as a PDF, PDF/A, XLSX or CSV.

Applicability and Use Cases

The Geofence Movement report supports a variety of operational, logistical, and compliance-related scenarios:

  1. Site Attendance & Job Validation
Validate that field assets or drivers have arrived at or departed from key locations. Useful for proof of service, job billing, or contractor attendance.
  2. Route and Movement Monitoring
Understand site visitation frequency and asset circulation patterns. Detect over-servicing, optimise job dispatch, or identify underutilised geofences.
  3. Safety & Compliance Tracking
Ensure assets do not enter restricted or hazardous zones. Can support regulatory requirements for containment areas or controlled access sites.
  4. Contractual Proof and SLA Reporting
Provide clear timestamped entry and exit logs for customer reporting, audits, or dispute resolution.

Interpreting the Data

  • A high number of entries and exits from the same asset may indicate repetitive site visits or delivery loops.

  • Large time gaps between entry and exit may suggest prolonged on-site activity or idle time.

  • Unexpected geofence activity may reveal unauthorised usage or route deviation.

  • Assets missing expected events could point to telemetry issues or improper geofence setup.

Summary

The Geofence Movement report is a powerful tool for tracking asset behaviour in relation to key locations. With clear entry and exit timestamps and flexible filtering, it enhances operational oversight, supports compliance, and validates job execution across any industry using mobile assets or fleets.
