Filter and Save an Asset View

This article explains how to filter assets in Perspio and save the filtered result to the current session, enabling users to quickly focus on a relevant subset of assets without permanently altering views or reports.

Overview

Filtering assets in Perspio allows users to narrow down large asset lists based on specific properties such as status, type, group, or other asset attributes. The Save to Session functionality temporarily applies the selected filters, ensuring that only the relevant assets are displayed across compatible modules during the current session.

This is particularly useful for operational reviews, investigations, short-term analysis, or focused workflows where only a subset of assets is required.

Filtering Assets Using the Top Toolbar

Follow the steps below to filter and save an asset view:

1. Click on the Top Toolbar

From the Assets screen, locate the top toolbar above the asset list. This toolbar provides access to filtering, sorting, and session-based controls.

The toolbar acts as the primary interaction point for refining which assets are displayed on screen.

Click on Top Toolbar

2. Select a Property to Filter

Click on the filter control and select the asset property you wish to filter by.
Examples of filterable properties may include asset status, asset type, group, or other configured asset attributes.

This selection defines the category of data that will be constrained.

3. Choose the Items You Wish to Filter

Once a property is selected, choose one or more values from the available list.
Multiple selections can be used to broaden the filter while still limiting results to relevant assets.

The asset list updates dynamically as selections are applied.

4. Click on “Save to Session”

After configuring the desired filters, click Save to Session.

This action:

  • Applies the filter across the current session

  • Ensures only the filtered assets are displayed

  • Does not permanently save the filter as a named view

The session-based filter remains active until cleared or the session ends.

Click on Save to Session

5. Confirm the Filtered Asset Count

Review the asset count indicator to confirm that the number of displayed assets matches the expected filtered result.

This provides immediate confirmation that the filter has been successfully applied.

6. Save to Profile

After validating the filtered asset list, click Save to Profile to persist the view.

Saving to Profile:

  • Stores the filtered view under your user profile

  • Makes the view available at the top of the filter bar for quick reuse, as shown in the image

  • Allows instant switching between saved views (for example, by user, asset type, or device model)

  • Persists across sessions and logins, unlike Save to Session

Once saved, the view appears as a selectable pill at the top of the screen, enabling fast access without reapplying filters.

Screen Controls

  • Top Toolbar: Central access point for filtering and session actions.

  • Property Selector: Allows selection of the asset field to filter by.

  • Value Selector: Displays available values for the chosen property.

  • Save to Session: Applies the filter temporarily for the active session.

  • Asset Count Indicator: Displays the number of assets currently in view.

Notes and Best Practices

  • Session-based filters are temporary and reset when the session ends or the filter is cleared.

  • Filters saved to session do not create reusable or shared views.

  • For persistent or reusable views, consider using saved views if available in your tenant configuration.
