Driver Behaviour Summary Report
Analyse driving events and safety performance for behaviour-based fleet monitoring.
Overview
The Driver Behaviour Summary report provides a high-level overview of safety-related driving events detected by connected telemetry devices and AI-enabled dashcams installed in fleet vehicles. This report is designed to assess driver risk profiles by analysing metrics such as harsh driving behaviour, speeding, idling, and accident detection.
Each row in the report represents a unique asset (vehicle) and aggregates events recorded during the selected period. The overall Score reflects the density and severity of risky behaviours, weighted by distance travelled and the number of trips. Lower scores are better, indicating safer and smoother driving patterns across your fleet.
This report is particularly useful for driver coaching, fatigue risk identification, and improving road safety practices.
Report Structure
The generated report includes the following data columns:
| Column Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Asset ID | Unique identifier of the vehicle or asset being monitored. |
| Trips | Number of trips completed by the asset in the selected period. |
| Distance (km) | Total kilometres driven, measured via GPS tracking. |
| Harsh Cornering | Count of excessive lateral acceleration events (sharp cornering). |
| Harsh Braking | Number of sudden or aggressive braking instances detected. |
| Harsh Acceleration | Number of rapid acceleration events registered by the device. |
| Speeding (km/h) | Number of over speeding violations recorded by GPS data. |
| Idling | Number of prolonged engine-on stationary events. |
| Accidents | Number of collision or impact events detected by dashcam or sensor. |
| Score | Safety score calculated using all events above. The closer to 0.000, the better the driving performance. High scores indicate more risk and event density per trip and distance. |
At the bottom of the report, a generation timestamp confirms when the report was produced, including the local time zone for accuracy.
How to Generate the Report
-
Navigate to Reports → Driver Behaviour → Summary.
-
Select the Scope (Relative or Range) and choose your desired Time Period (e.g., Today, This Week, This Month).
-
Choose one or more Assets from the asset selector dropdown.
-
Click Run Report.
Once generated, results are displayed in a table and can be exported to PDF, PDF/A, XLSXor CSV formats.
Applicability and Use Cases
1. Driver Safety Assessment
This report helps safety and operations teams monitor and compare driving patterns across drivers or assets, identifying those with repeated unsafe events.
2. Score-Based Driver Coaching
Drivers with consistently high scores can be flagged for further training or coaching, using recorded behaviour metrics as supporting evidence.
3. Incident and Risk Management
Harsh braking, acceleration, and cornering events may precede or indicate unsafe habits that increase accident likelihood. Combined with accident data, these trends assist in proactive risk reduction.
4. Fatigue & Distraction Monitoring
Frequent events (especially across long distances or high-speed driving) may indicate driver fatigue or inattentiveness, useful when combined with in-cab camera footage.
5. Insurance, Compliance & Reporting
Driving event history is useful for claims verification, safety audits, and proof of safe operation for regulatory or insurance reporting.
Interpreting the Data
-
High Score (>0.5): Indicates frequent risky behaviour relative to driving distance. Investigate the driver’s driving style, route conditions, or possible fatigue.
-
Moderate Score (0.1 – 0.5): Monitor for trends. May be acceptable in high-density driving areas but should be reviewed.
-
Low Score (0.000 – 0.1): Indicates minimal risky behaviour. Reflects smooth, compliant driving.
-
High Events, Low Distance: May artificially inflate score. Check for local movement patterns, frequent stops, or test routes.
-
0 Trips or 0 Distance: Vehicle not used in the period, or data not received. Check device health if unexpected.
Summary
The Driver Behaviour Summary report is a critical safety monitoring tool that consolidates driving events across your fleet into an easy-to-interpret score per asset. This allows organisations to identify risks, reward good driving, and take proactive steps to enhance road safety and reduce costs associated with accidents, insurance, and vehicle wear.
