Device Health Report

Monitor connectivity, last-seen status, and telemetry consistency across your fleet.

Overview

The Device Health report provides a detailed overview of asset connectivity and telemetry activity within a selected period. It lists all assets, their associated devices, and the time they were last seen communicating with Perspio.

This report is designed to help users quickly identify inactive, misconfigured, or disconnected devices—allowing for proactive maintenance and troubleshooting. Each record represents a device currently associated with an asset and provides essential diagnostic information, including make, model, and operational status.

This report is particularly useful for technical and operations teams who need to monitor device uptime, track data gaps, and ensure reliable asset visibility across the fleet.

Report Structure

The generated report includes the following data columns:

Column Name Description
Asset Id A unique identifier assigned to each asset within Perspio. Used for internal cross-referencing and troubleshooting.
Asset Name The custom name of the asset associated with the device. Helps identify which unit or vehicle the telemetry device belongs to.
Serial Number The hardware serial number of the installed device. This allows validation against provisioning records and vendor databases.
Make The manufacturer of the device (e.g., Digital Matter, Geotab). Useful for identifying device-specific troubleshooting steps.
Model The model name or code of the telemetry device. Certain models may have different data reporting intervals or firmware requirements.
Operation L1 The primary operation mode or device type classification (e.g., Digital Matter, Geotab). Helps in distinguishing between brands and data structures.
Last Seen Displays the date and time of the device’s most recent data transmission to Perspio. Assets highlighted in red indicate devices that have not communicated within the selected time range, suggesting possible offline status or hardware malfunction.

At the bottom of the report, a generation timestamp confirms when the report was created, including the tenant’s time zone (AUS Eastern Standard Time) for context and audit tracking.

How to Generate the Report

  1. Navigate to Reports → Device Telemetry → Device Health.

  2. In the Assets dropdown, select one or more assets or choose All Assets.

  3. Adjust the Filter Range (e.g., Last 48 Hours, Last Week) to define the communication window.

  4. Choose the Filter Type (e.g., Last Seen) and Group By (e.g., Asset ID).

  5. Click Run Report.

  6. The report will display grouped results in a table format and can be exported as PDF or CSV.

Applicability and Use Cases

The Device Health report is critical for maintaining the integrity of telemetry networks and ensuring uninterrupted data flow. It is particularly relevant to customers with large, distributed fleets or IoT device deployments. Common use cases include:

1. Device Connectivity Monitoring

Identify devices that have gone offline or stopped transmitting data. This enables proactive troubleshooting before data loss impacts reporting or compliance.

2. Hardware Troubleshooting

Quickly pinpoint faulty or disconnected devices by reviewing the Last Seen column and verifying against installation or maintenance logs.

3. Preventative Maintenance

Devices that have not reported for several days may require inspection or replacement. Early detection reduces operational downtime.

4. Integration Verification

Use the Make and Model columns to confirm that devices are correctly mapped and sending data in expected formats—especially after integrations or schema updates.

5. Fleet-Wide Health Audits

Generate a complete list of all devices, their brands, models, and communication status for auditing, warranty validation, or vendor reporting.

Interpreting the Data

  • Red “Last Seen” entries indicate inactive or disconnected devices. These may require inspection, power checks, or replacement.

  • Consistent time gaps between assets may indicate delayed communication settings or network issues.

  • Older devices (e.g., pre-2023 last-seen dates) should be reviewed for decommissioning or firmware upgrades.

  • Grouping by Asset ID helps identify patterns, such as multiple device dropouts within a region or specific hardware type.

Summary

The Device Health report is an essential diagnostic tool that ensures the reliability and consistency of telemetry data within Perspio. By monitoring “last seen” activity and device metadata, it empowers users to detect issues early, maintain high data quality, and sustain full operational visibility across their assets.
