Asset Utilisation Menu
The Asset Utilisation menu provides a visual summary of how an asset has been used over time, based on either engine run hours or odometer readings. It is a valuable tool to monitor asset performance, plan servicing, and ensure contractual or operational expectations are being met.
Overview
This screen displays a bar chart representing utilisation data across the selected time period. Each bar reflects either total engine run hours or total kilometres travelled, depending on the selected metric. This chart helps users assess asset workload distribution, identify patterns in utilisation, and detect anomalies such as unexpected inactivity or excessive usage.
Screen Controls
Several filters and controls at the top of the page allow for customised views:
-
Time Range Navigation
Use the left and right arrows to switch between months. The current month is highlighted in the timeline bar above the chart. The calendar selector allows you to jump directly to a specific date. -
Time Interval Toggle
Options for Day, Week, or Month define the granularity of the data displayed on the chart. -
Metric Selector
Choose between:-
Preferred Run Hours – Based on the most reliable source of engine operation time.
-
Preferred Odometer – Based on the most reliable source of distance travelled.
-
-
Time Selector
Choose between:-
Day – View utilisation data according to the day and kilometres travelled.
-
Hour – View utilisation data according to the hour of the day and kilometres travelled.
-
-
Aggregation Method
Allows toggling between:-
Average – Displays the average utilisation per selected time interval.
-
Sum – Displays the total run hours or distance for each interval.
-
Chart Interpretation
-
Bar Height
Indicates the amount of usage (kilometres) for each day, week, or month depending on the selected interval. -
Numeric Labels
Shows the number of usage sessions that occurred within each time slice. -
Shaded Backgrounds
Grey shading highlights weekends, helping to differentiate weekdays from non-operational days at a glance.
Use Cases
-
Operational Oversight
Monitor usage trends to optimise fleet allocation and minimise idle time. -
Maintenance Planning
Align servicing with actual utilisation, not just calendar intervals, to improve reliability and reduce costs. -
Contract Management
Verify compliance with lease or hire agreements that rely on usage-based thresholds. -
Asset Justification
Support decisions to retain, relocate, or decommission assets based on actual usage data.
Additional Notes
The utilisation data is derived from the asset’s configured Preferred Meters, as shown in the Metrics > Meters tab. Where telemetry is not available, ERP-integrated data or calculated figures may be used. It is recommended that meter preferences are reviewed and validated to ensure accurate reporting.
