Asset Sharing

The Sharing menu in the Configuration tab allows users to manage how an asset is shared between tenants in Perspio.

Overview of Sharing Options

The Asset Sharing is useful when organisations need to provide customers, suppliers, or partners with access to asset telemetry or profile information—without duplicating the asset or its data. This setup ensures seamless visibility and data consistency between parties, making Perspio an efficient platform for collaborative operations.

The menu is divided into two main sections:

1. Telemetry Sharing

This section allows for the real-time sharing of telemetry data—such as GPS, temperature, speed, or any other live signals generated by the asset's device. It is commonly used when:

  • A company hires or lends an asset to another party.

  • A customer needs to view an asset’s location or performance metrics.

  • A third-party is responsible for monitoring the asset’s usage.

Fields Explained:

  • Target Tenant ID: The unique identifier of the tenant receiving the telemetry data.

  • Target Asset ID: The identifier assigned to the asset in the receiving tenant’s environment.

  • Status: Shows if the sharing configuration is active or still in progress.

2. Details Sharing

This section controls the sharing of the asset’s profile details—such as schema, name, type, license plate, and any other metadata configured on the asset.

This is useful when:

  • Customers need visibility into asset configurations.

  • Shared analytics or reporting is required across tenants.

  • The asset is used in cross-tenant workflows or dashboards.

Fields Explained:

  • Target Tenant ID: Identifies the tenant receiving the profile data.

  • Target Asset ID: Corresponds to the asset’s record in the receiving tenant.

  • Sharing Profile: The profile used to determine which data fields will be shared. For example, "Demo Sharing" may restrict sensitive fields. For more information on Sharing Profiles, refer to this article.

  • Status: Indicates whether the sharing link is active or still being established.

Editing Sharing Configurations

To update or configure asset sharing:

  1. Click Edit in the top right corner of the section.

  2. Enter or update the Target Tenant ID and Target Asset ID.

  3. For Details Sharing, select the appropriate Sharing Profile from the dropdown.

  4. Click Save to confirm.

Once saved, the asset will begin sharing the selected data to the designated tenant, and the Status will indicate when the connection is active.

Why Sharing Is Important

Asset sharing enables transparency and operational efficiency across tenant boundaries. It ensures data consistency, improves coordination, and allows for powerful multi-party integrations—particularly in use cases like equipment hire, contract logistics, and outsourced fleet operations.

By managing telemetry and profile data separately, Perspio provides granular control over what is shared and with whom.
