Asset Metrics

The Asset Metrics Menu provides detailed insight into telemetry data generated by connected devices, enabling performance monitoring, diagnostics, and operational forecasting. It is accessible from the left-hand sidebar within any asset record and includes three tabs: Metrics, Meters, and Counters.

The Asset Metrics gives operations, maintenance, and customer success teams a rich visual and numerical understanding of an asset's telemetry. These tools support timely decision-making, efficient diagnostics, and compliance monitoring.

Time Bar & Screen Controls

Across all three sub-tabs (Metrics, Meters, Custom Counters), the top of the screen includes shared control tools:

  • Date Range Selector: Navigate through preset (Today, Week, Month) or custom date ranges to filter the data displayed.

  • Time Bar: Visually highlights the timespan of captured data for quick scrolling and focus. You can pause or play this view using the playback control.

  • Toggle Options:

    • Bullets / Detailed: Switch between high-level readings or individual data point granularity.

    • Anomalies Toggle: Show or hide outlier readings to assist in diagnostics or threshold alerts.

  • Display Options: Use chart icons (top-right of the graph) to toggle between line, stacked, or bar views, or to expand into full-screen mode for detailed review.

1. Metrics Tab

Displays time-series telemetry data captured from the asset's device.

Key Components:

  • Graph Timeline: Visualises trends for key metrics such as:

    • Battery Voltage (V)

    • Fuel Level (%)

    • Active (bool)

    • Heading (bearing)

    • Speed, Engine Speed, Engine Road Speed (km/h, rpm)

    • Coolant Temp, Cranking Voltage

  • Toggle Controls:

    • Bullets / Detailed / Anomalies – Refine chart visuals to highlight only bullet points, display detailed graph lines, or reveal detected anomalies.

  • Summary Table: Lists each metric with:

    • Latest Value

    • Unit

    • Last 24 Hours Activity

    • Last Updated Timestamp

Purpose:

Enables diagnostics, performance tracking, and anomaly detection (e.g. engine overheating, battery failure). Useful in maintenance planning and remote support.

2. Meters Tab

Meters provide cumulative values relevant for operational metrics like usage and wear.

Tracked Metrics:

  • Odometer (km):

    • Derived from device, customer input, or Perspio-calculated values.

    • Useful for mileage tracking, maintenance thresholds, lease agreements.

  • Run Hours (hr):

    • Represents active engine time.

    • Valuable for service scheduling and usage auditing.

  • Preferred Source Indicators:

    • Graph legends show which meter source is actively displayed (Device, Perspio, Customer).

Purpose:

Supports lifecycle and servicing workflows. Accurate meter readings ensure proactive maintenance, reduce downtime, and preserve asset value.

3. Custom Counters Tab

Custom counters track binary or incremental activities like:

  • Door Open Time

  • Custom triggers (e.g. reefer alerts, crane lifts, compressor cycles)

Counters can be configured in schemas or defined by integrations. More info here.

Purpose:

Offers precise visibility into repetitive mechanical actions or compliance requirements. Example: monitor how long refrigerated trailer doors remain open.
