Asset Inventory Utilisation Report
Assess asset engagement, run hours, and current location across your operational network.
Overview
The Asset Inventory Utilisation report provides a clear snapshot of all assets in your tenant, including their identifiers, serial numbers, total accumulated run hours, and last known locations. This report helps users quickly evaluate how each asset is being used and whether it remains active, idle, or due for service.
Unlike the Activity Summary or Utilisation Summary reports, which focus on operational movement or ignition-based performance, this report combines inventory data with utilisation metrics to identify both active and dormant assets in one view.
Each row in the report corresponds to a single asset, representing its metadata and total run hours logged within Perspio.
Report Structure
The generated report includes the following data columns:
Column Name | Description |
---|---|
Asset ID | The internal identifier assigned to each asset within Perspio. Used for cross-referencing across modules and integrations. |
Asset Name | The custom label given to the asset for easier identification (e.g., vehicle registration, equipment tag, or customer reference). |
Serial Number | The hardware serial number associated with the asset’s telemetry device or equipment unit. Useful for tracking and warranty validation. |
VIN | The Vehicle Identification Number, where applicable. Used primarily for vehicle-type assets to ensure traceability. |
Total Run Hours | The cumulative runtime measured by Perspio from device telemetry, indicating total hours the asset has been operational. Assets with 0.00 run hours may be new, idle, or have inactive telemetry. |
Location | Displays a hyperlink to “Open in Maps,” enabling users to view the last known GPS position of the asset directly on a map. This helps confirm location accuracy and identify misplaced units. |
At the bottom of the report, a timestamp notes when the report was generated, including the tenant’s timezone for operational context.
How to Generate the Report
-
Navigate to Reports → Asset Telemetry → Asset Inventory Utilisation.
-
Select the Assets dropdown and choose one or more assets, or select All Assets.
-
Click Run Report to generate the dataset.
-
Once generated, the report displays in a paginated table view and can be exported to PDF, PDF/A, XLSX or CSV for further review.
Applicability and Use Cases
The Asset Inventory Utilisation report is particularly valuable for operations, maintenance, and administrative teams managing large or distributed fleets. Common use cases include:
1. Asset Health and Utilisation Tracking
Quickly determine which assets are actively operating versus idle. Run hours help identify underutilised units or those nearing service thresholds.
2. Maintenance Planning and Scheduling
Total run hours provide insight into asset wear and usage, enabling predictive or scheduled servicing before mechanical failure occurs.
3. Idle Asset Identification
Assets showing minimal or zero run hours may be misplaced, inactive, or offline. This helps teams redeploy or investigate them to maximise utilisation.
4. Location Verification
The “Open in Maps” links simplify field verification and support recovery of misplaced or unreported assets.
5. Operational Auditing
Combining serial numbers, VINs, and location data ensures all assets are properly accounted for and configured in Perspio.
Interpreting the Data
-
Run Hours = 0.00: The asset may be inactive, newly installed, or not configured to report operational telemetry.
-
Missing Serial Number or VIN: Indicates incomplete data entry or device integration setup.
-
Identical Run Hours across multiple assets: Could indicate shared device data, a telemetry configuration issue, or incorrect asset linkage.
-
Location Links: Allow direct map verification to confirm actual placement versus expected site.
Summary
The Asset Inventory Utilisation report combines inventory and performance insights in a single, actionable view. By correlating asset identifiers, run hours, and location data, it enables teams to optimise fleet efficiency, reduce downtime, and maintain full visibility over asset deployment and health.
