Asset Groups - Asset Members

The Asset Members tab allows you to manage which assets belong to a selected Asset Group. Depending on your operational needs, groups can be configured to include assets either manually or through dynamic conditions. This article outlines how to navigate and use this tab effectively.

Overview

When an Asset Group is selected, the Asset Members tab provides a complete view and control over the assets associated with that group. The interface adapts depending on whether the group uses Manual or Dynamic membership.

Membership Type Toggle

At the top of the tab, you’ll find two toggle buttons:

  • Manual: Assets are added or removed manually by a user.

  • Dynamic: Assets are automatically included based on rules defined in the condition builder.

Important: Switching from one membership type to another will remove all currently assigned assets from the group. This operation cannot be undone. Be sure to confirm the change intentionally.

Manual Membership

Adding Assets

In Manual mode, a search bar and asset selector appear at the top of the screen. This section allows you to:

  • Search Assets: Type into the Search assets field to find specific assets.

  • Bulk Select: Use the dropdown to select multiple assets at once.

  • Add to Group: Selected assets are automatically added to the group upon selection.

Asset Table

Below the search interface is a table showing all current members of the group. Each row contains:

  • Asset ID

  • Description

  • Type

  • Category

  • Branch

  • State

  • Devices: Number of devices associated with the asset

  • Last Seen: Timestamp of the last telemetry update

  • Actions: A Remove button for detaching the asset from the group

Export Option

The Export button on the top right allows you to download a list of the group’s assets in CSV format for record-keeping or analysis.

Dynamic Membership

When Dynamic is selected, a condition builder interface becomes available.

Condition Builder

This allows the creation of rules that automatically include assets based on metadata fields. The components are:

  • Field Selector: Choose a property such as Category, Branch, or any available asset metadata field.

  • Operator Selector: Define logic (e.g., is, contains, equals, etc.).

  • Value Field: Enter the value that should match.

You can build multiple conditions to narrow down the group scope.

For more information on the Condition Builder and how to use it, please see this article.

Buttons

  • Show Assets: Preview the list of assets that match the dynamic rules before applying.

  • Variable Inspector: View available values for asset properties to guide rule creation.

  • Edit: Enables you to modify existing dynamic rules.

Note: Once saved, the list of assets matching the rules will be displayed in the table below, similar to Manual mode, but cannot be manually removed.

Asset List (Common to Both Modes)

The bottom table (whether in Manual or Dynamic mode) consistently displays all assets currently included in the group, with sortable columns for easy navigation.

Columns include:

  • Asset ID

  • Description

  • Type

  • Category

  • Branch

  • State

  • Devices

  • Last Seen

In Manual mode, the Actions column includes a Remove button.
