Asset Display
The Asset Display tab within the Configuration Menu allows you to customise how an asset appears across the platform, define its schema, and set key display behaviours. This menu is critical for ensuring that each asset is correctly classified, visually represented, and aligned with operational and reporting requirements.
It serves as the foundation for visual clarity and backend configuration, ensuring your assets not only behave as intended but are also labelled and displayed consistently across the UI.
General
-
Show in GUI: Toggle visibility of the asset within the graphical interface. This is useful when you want to temporarily hide assets from maps or operational dashboards without deleting them or when you are decommissioning asset but want to keep historical data for future reference.
-
Asset Type: Displays the current Schema assigned to the asset. This governs the asset’s available metrics, display widgets, and data mapping rules. This field is set upon creation and can be changed only by our team internally.
Marker Display
-
Marker Type: Selects which icon will represent this asset on the map. This ensures asset types (e.g. vehicles, trailers, bins, equipment) are easily recognisable by users in the interface.
- More info on how to change Edit the Marker Display here.
Static Location
This section allows configuration of a static geographical location for the asset, particularly useful when the device does not have active telemetry or GPS, or for fixed infrastructure.
-
Manual Location Override: When set to ON, this option overrides any incoming GPS location with the latitude/longitude values set below. This is often used for non-telemetry assets or placeholders.
-
Latitude / Longitude: Coordinates used if Manual Override is enabled. These should be set with care to ensure reporting and tracking remain accurate.
-
Timezone: Defines the local time zone for the asset. This is crucial for aligning event timestamps, scheduled workflows, and reports.
Toll Settings
-
Toll Class: Assigns a toll class to the asset, which is used in toll analytics and financial reporting across the platform. Ensure this is correctly configured for accurate cost attribution.
- More info on Toll Classes here.
Why This Matters
Correct setup of the Asset Display tab ensures:
-
The asset is properly visualised across maps and dashboards
-
The schema applied matches the device’s expected data model
-
Assets without live telemetry are still locatable
-
Tolls and time-sensitive workflows apply in the correct context
This menu underpins how assets appear and function across the platform, and should be reviewed during onboarding or when asset roles change.
