Activity Detailed Report

Understand and interpret detailed trip data for fleet utilisation, performance, and compliance analysis.

Overview

The Activity Detailed report provides a comprehensive breakdown of individual trip activities for each asset, including start and end times, durations, distances, and locations. This report is designed to give users full visibility over asset movement patterns and utilisation trends, helping to assess operational efficiency, driver behaviour, and asset deployment.

Each row in the report represents a distinct driving trip, defined by ignition events or motion detection captured by the installed telemetry device.

This report is particularly useful for reviewing daily movement patterns, verifying job attendance, calculating usage hours, or auditing fleet travel data for compliance and billing purposes.

Report Structure

The generated report includes the following data columns:

Column Name Description
Trip Type Identifies the mode of operation (e.g., Driving, Idling, Stopped). Each trip type is automatically determined by ignition and movement data from the device.
Start Time The date and time the trip began. Based on the first ignition-on or motion event recorded.
End Time The date and time the trip ended. Determined when ignition is turned off or motion ceases.
Duration (h) The total duration of the trip in hours and minutes. Helps identify how long the asset was active or in motion.
Distance (km) The total distance covered during the trip, measured via GPS tracking. Useful for mileage-based maintenance schedules and utilisation reports.
Status Indicates whether the trip is Ongoing or Ended. Most trips will display as Ended unless the vehicle is currently in motion.
Stopped Time (h) The time elapsed between the end of the previous trip and the start of the next one. Provides insight into idle periods and downtime between operations.
Trip End Location The precise address or coordinate where the trip concluded, derived from GPS data. Enables validation of delivery routes, site visits, and operational locations.

At the bottom of the report, a generation timestamp confirms when the report was produced, including the local time zone for context.

How to Generate the Report

  1. Navigate to Reports → Asset Telemetry → Activity Detailed.

  2. Select the Scope (Relative or Range) and choose your desired Time Period (e.g., Today, This Week, This Month or a Custom Date).

  3. Choose one or more Assets from the asset selector dropdown.

  4. Click Run Report.

  5. Once generated, results are displayed in a table and can be exported to PDF, PDF/A, XLSX or CSV.

Applicability and Use Cases

The Activity Detailed report has broad operational applications across fleet, logistics, and equipment management. Below are common use cases:

1. Fleet Utilisation Tracking

Helps fleet managers assess daily or monthly usage levels of each vehicle, enabling more balanced asset allocation and improved maintenance scheduling.

2. Driver Behaviour and Route Auditing

Provides clear visibility over trip patterns, start time and stop locations, and total durations. Useful for verifying route adherence, detecting unauthorised usage, or reviewing safety compliance.

3. Operational Performance Analysis

Enables logistics and operations teams to measure how effectively assets are being used against planned schedules or job allocations.

4. Downtime and Efficiency Monitoring

The “Stopped Time” column highlights periods of inactivity, allowing businesses to reduce idle time and maximise utilisation.

5. Maintenance and Compliance

Distance and duration metrics are valuable for planning service intervals and maintaining compliance with fatigue management or logbook reporting requirements.

Interpreting the Data

  • Short duration trips may indicate local repositioning or test movements.

  • Long idle or stopped periods may suggest downtime, maintenance, or non-utilisation.

  • Consistent route repetition can validate operational consistency or planned job patterns.

  • Discrepancies in distance or time may indicate GPS dropouts or inaccurate ignition events.

Summary

The Activity Detailed report is an essential operational tool for any organisation managing moving assets. By combining time, distance, and location information into a structured view, it provides actionable insights for improving efficiency, verifying field activity, and maintaining compliance with operational standards.
